Ford vows to build best-in-class small cars

Over the past two years, Ford has achieved significant improvements in vehicle quality, making its vehicles some of the best in the industry in terms of quality. Now that the domestic auto industry is in a slump, Ford isn’t taking any chances. The automaker has set an aggressive new target – best-in-class initial quality for compact cars the company will launch in North America by 2010.

In 2003, Ford commemorated two important landmarks in its History. Aside from being the 100th aniversary of its foundation, it also marked the 40th aniversary of the release of one of its most famous cars: the Ford GT, better-known simply as GT40. This coincidence was echoed by the presentation of a GT prototype that boasts high performances. Much like its predecessor, the new GT40 aims at beating Ferrari, on the road.
